Who Are We?

The Civil Air Patrol is a not-for-profit 501c(3) and the volunteer arm of the US Air Force. We are cadets (ages 12-18) and senior members (18+) who have a desire to serve their country & community.
Formed two weeks before Pearl Harbor in 1941, we have an award-winning national cadet program that teaches respect, leadership, physical fitness and a military lifestyle— from color guards to search and rescue to week-long encampments.
Our air crews have aircraft based across the State of North Dakota and provide over 90% of the air search and rescue services for the Air Force and the FAA, and have an award-winning Drug Demand Reduction program that provides positive role models and activities.
We provide the majority of the airborne photography during local disasters and work closely with local emergency management agencies and the National Guard.  Many of our adults are former members from all branches of the military. All members are volunteers.

Our members live in Bismarck, Dickinson, Fargo, Grand Forks, Jamestown, Minot and the surrounding areas.  Our aircraft are based at the Bismarck, Dickinson, Fargo, Grand Forks, Jamestown and Minot airports.

Help us to help others.

Our large ticket items (such as our aircraft) are paid for using taxpayer dollars to ensure we can perform our emergency services missions in a timely manner.
But we are volunteers— from those who work with our cadets to those who fly in our airplanes. We buy our own uniforms, pay for our own training and freely give of thousands of community service hours— without any request for recompense.
